Account Transfer Policy - Official Transfer Ownership Workflow in Play Console (April 2026)

1. Google introduced the Account Transfer policy on April 15, 2026: developer account transfers must use the official "Transfer ownership" workflow inside Play Console - transfers handled outside this flow are no longer policy-compliant. 2. You have at least 30 days from April 15, 2026 to update your processes; transfers done through unofficial channels (shared credentials, email handovers, third-party brokerage services) are policy violations subject to enforcement. 3. Before transferring, confirm eligibility inside the console - the transfer option only appears for eligible accounts; review the Play Console Help article "Transfer your app to another developer" for the requirements. 4. The official workflow reassigns apps, listings, payments and profile ownership to the receiving account in one controlled step; unofficial handovers can leave the original identity attached and trigger verification or review problems. 5. After the transfer completes, sign in to the receiving account and verify the apps appear under its Play Console and are managed from there; both sides should keep records of the transfer.
